Child safety and tutor screening
Everest Tutoring requires a current Working With Children Check from every tutor and staff member who works with students, across all 4 Perth locations and online. Classes are supervised by a named tutor for the whole session, students are released only to a parent or an approved adult, and online classes run with cameras on and recordings opt-out.

Screening
What every tutor goes through before a first class

In the centre
Supervision and pickup
- One named tutor runs each class for the whole session, and classes are never left unsupervised.
- Students in Years 4 to 6 are released at the end of class to a parent or an adult named on the enrolment form, and late pickups wait inside with a staff member.
- Doors are staffed at the start and end of every session at Harrisdale and Willetton, and on-campus classes at Harrisdale Senior High School follow the school's own sign-out procedure.
- One-to-one lessons are taught in an open room or a room with a window to a shared space, never behind a closed door.
- Tutors contact students through Everest channels only, not personal phone numbers or social accounts.
- Photographs of students are taken only with written parent consent on the enrolment form, and consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Online classes
Cameras on, recordings opt-out
- Cameras on for the whole class, for the tutor and every student, so the tutor can see who is in the room.
- Classes run from an Everest account with a waiting room; nobody joins without being admitted by the tutor.
- Lessons are recorded for students who miss a class, and a family can opt out of recording at any time by telling the centre team. If one family opts out, that class is not recorded.
- Recordings are shared only with students enrolled in that class and are deleted at the end of the following term.
- Private one-to-one chat between a tutor and a student is turned off; questions go to the whole class or through the Everest app.
Complaints
How to raise a concern
Any concern, from a class that felt disorganised to something about a child's safety, goes to a person, not a form.
Tell us
Speak to the tutor or the centre team the same day, call 0404 604 673, or email info@everesttutoring.com.au with the word "concern" in the subject line.
We respond
A manager acknowledges it within one business day and tells you who is handling it. A concern about a child's safety goes to the operations manager immediately and the tutor is stood down from classes while it is looked into.
Outcome in writing
You get the outcome in writing, including what changed. If you are not satisfied, you can escalate to the founder at info@everesttutoring.com.au.
If you believe a child is at immediate risk of harm, contact WA Police on 000.Concerns about a child's wellbeing can also be reported directly to the Department of Communities, and Everest will cooperate fully with any investigation.
Questions parents ask about safety
Can I see a tutor's Working With Children Check?
Yes. Ask the centre team and Everest will confirm that the tutor teaching your child holds a current check and the date it expires. Call 0404 604 673 or email info@everesttutoring.com.au.
Are Everest tutors registered teachers?
Most are not. They are high-ATAR university students and graduates who recently sat the same exams and teach from booklets written by the Everest teaching team. Nothing on this site claims teacher registration or a teaching qualification.
How do I raise a concern about a tutor or a class?
Tell the centre team the same day, in person, by calling 0404 604 673 or by emailing info@everesttutoring.com.au with "concern" in the subject line. A manager responds within one business day, and a concern about a child's safety is escalated to the operations manager immediately. If you believe a child is at risk of harm, contact WA Police on 000 or the Department of Communities Child Protection.
What happens to my child's personal information?
Enrolment details are used to run classes, billing and communication with your family only, and are not sold or shared with third parties for marketing. See the privacy policy for how long records are kept and how to request a copy.
