The deliverable

What the report looks like

The report is the point of the mock. It arrives by email within 7 days of the sitting and runs to two pages.

  • A score out of the paper total, plus a separate score for reading, quantitative reasoning, abstract reasoning and writing
  • The two or three question types your child lost the most marks on, with examples from their own paper
  • Strengths worth keeping, written in plain language your child can read
  • Where the score sits against the 209.5 selective-entry cut-off, and what would need to change to clear it
  • A ten-minute phone call with a tutor to go through the report, if you want one

Illustrative. Reports are not published, because they contain a named student's marks.

How it works

Three steps, about a week end to end

Book a seat

Choose a centre and date above. You give six details, and an SMS and email confirmation arrive straight away with what to bring.

Sit the paper

Your child sits a full-length 2-hour GATE-style paper under exam conditions, with a briefing first so the format is not a surprise.

Read the report

A tutor marks the paper, including the writing task against the WA GATE criteria, and emails the written report within 7 days. A ten-minute call is optional.

Questions parents ask about the mock

Is it really free?
Yes. There is no payment, no card details and no obligation to enrol. The mock exam and the written report are free for students who are new to Everest, once per student.
What should my child bring?
Two pencils, an eraser and a water bottle. No calculator and no notes. Arrive ten minutes early so the paper can start on time, and plan for about two and a half hours including the briefing.
Can Year 6 students sit it?
The free mock is for Year 4 and Year 5 students, because it is a diagnostic with a year or more of preparation still to run. Year 6 students sit timed mocks inside the Year 6 GATE class instead, every three weeks through Term 4 and Term 1.
Do we have to enrol afterwards?
No. You receive the report either way. A tutor will offer a ten-minute call to explain the scores and will tell you what a term would cover, and if it is not the right fit you say so and nothing is owed.

Prefer to talk it through? Call 0404 604 673 during centre hours or send a message.
